Place2 is a creative Sunshine Coast Council placemaking project bringing fun and creativity to Caloundra. Place2 features 3 key initiatives:
- Place2Paint – Bringing building surfaces to life through curated contemporary mural art and adding to our growing street art collection in Downtown Caloundra. It all started with the interactive, augmented reality mural by George Rose and Stu Campbell (aka Sutu eats flies). The mural was recently awarded Australia’s Best External Mural at the Australian Street Art Awards. Sam Wilkinson (aka Leans) has also completed a new work in the laneway between Bulcock Street and the bus station. You can explore the growing street art collection through the street art tour.
- Place2Play – Enlivening streets and laneways through playful participatory activation’s. Several artists are currently developing work that will embellish the streets of Caloundra. Think thought-provoking contemporary interaction and site-specific activation! Their works will be showcased between February and May 2020 so stay tuned
- Place2Connect – Transforming the under-utilised Transit Centre Bus Interchange Lounge into a creative space – Sub tropic studio. Several local artists have taken up residency in the funky new studio and the area has been transformed from drab bus terminal into a space with energy and vitality. The space will feature exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, film screenings and more.
The Place2 project creates a dialogue between artists and communities. It inspires curiosity and connection.
Place2 invites you to rediscover the creative heart of Downtown Caloundra.
