1st annual Pirate fest downtown Caloundra

Avast ! Pirates galore descend on downtown Caloundra

Ahoy, me hearties! International Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19  is a parodic holiday created in 1995 by John Bauer (Ol’ Chumbucket) and Mark Summers (Cap’n Slappy), of Albany, Oregon,U.S., who proclaimed September 19 each year as the day when everyone in the world should talk like a pirate. For example, an observer of this holiday would greet friends not with “Hello,” but with “Ahoy, matey!” The holiday, and its observance, springs from a romanticized view of the Golden Age of Piracy.

To celebrate this auspicious day Downtown Caloundra and the Caloundra Business Alliance hosts its inaugural Pirate Fest 2017 which will include various activities for primary school kids + high schooler’s to come into downtown Caloundra and have a bit of fun during the first week of the holidays.

The Caloundra Business Alliance, a newly formed business group uniting Caloundra CBD businesses is all about connecting business 2 community and is the driver behind the 1st Annual Pirate Fest.

Activities run from 15 – 22 September and include a Treasure Map Hunt, a colouring in completion plus “Find the Pirate” on Tuesday 19 September. Our real live pirate will be out and about in town between 11 am – 2pm on Tuesday 19 and if you follow the clues on Snapchat (d_caloundra) and Instagram (@downtowncaloundra) you will be in the running for some amazing prizes.
