A newly revamped boutique motel has just opened in Caloundra, the jewel of the Sunshine Coast. This motel, now known as Motel Caloundra, has set its sights on being the first net-zero offering in the region.
The brains behind this incredible transformation are Andrew and Lucy Pink, along with Scott Armstrong from Maeva Hospitality. They saw the potential in the old Caloundra City Centre Motel and decided to give it a total makeover. And deliver they certainly have!
The motel has been completely stripped down to the old property, leaving nothing but the bare bones. From there, they worked their magic – The rooms and bathrooms were redesigned from the ground up, with sleek and modern touches. Think king beds with organic cotton sheets and smart TVs with all the subscriptions.
Motel Caloundra offer superior king rooms with private balconies and dedicated parking spaces. The team have added in a family suite and an apartment for those seeking extra space and comfort.
Aside from the fantastic accommodations, guests at Motel Caloundra have access to Oggy E-scooters, perfect for exploring the coastal paths and checking out the town’s vibrant street art. The motel is conveniently a short walk away from the stunning beaches, Gallery, The Events Centre, restaurants, cafes, and bars that Caloundra is famous for.
Something incredibly unique about Motel Caloundra’s is their commitment to sustainability. They’ve installed a rooftop bank of 47 solar panels, producing a whopping 19.50kw of power during the day. And to take it a step further, they’ve added batteries that produce an additional 23kw of power in the evening. Holy guacamole! With this setup, the motel can run on its own without relying on external energy sources.
It’s not just about a revamped motel appearing from the shallows, this new offering to Caloundra instills business confidence and helps to pave the way for a greener future as we focus on the new CBD precinct, new Library and Gallery projects as part of the Caloundra Master Plan. The owners saw the potential in this central location and the town’s plans for future development. They wanted to offer visitors high-quality accommodation that aligns with the Sunshine Coast’s commitment to sustainability and its UNESCO biosphere status.
Visit Sunshine Coast have praised efforts of Motel Caloundra in investing in state-of-the-art energy sustainability technology. Caloundra plays a vital role in the tourism economy, not just as a beautiful holiday destination but also as a premium spot for events, conferences, art, culture, and sports. The re-launch of Motel Caloundra will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the area’s future tourism development.
